[Politico] EUCO - “Low Level Diplomats”, Italian Prime Minister ousts delegates.

Tense intervention occurred in DISEC this morning. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni removed Italy’s representative from the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) on Sunday morning, following remarks made by the delegate to the European Council.

Sources say that the Italian delegate, among other delegates of DISEC,  slandered EUCO, which led to the intervention. The prime minister opened by calling the committee a “big group of bulls*** talkers” before further voicing her disappointment, criticizing the committee as a  “waste of time”. 

The Italian prime minister was accompanied by the entire European Council, as well as two bodyguards. She is convening at the four-day UN conference this weekend. Tensions may continue to mount after this second day, and repercussions may follow for the behaviour of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
