Temperatures in the room are rising, literally and metaphorically, as the Council of the European Union (CoEU) discusses amending Article 8 on the modernization of infrastructures for clean energy.
In the midday heat, delegates struggle to cool down the discussion in order to find a European consensus on concrete percentages for investment in research and infrastructures. With time running out, within the CoEU summit as well as in the fight against the climate crisis, the discussion increasingly borders on chaos. The vote in favor of several amendments on the article finally went through, but in the heat of the debate, it seems that hasty decisions impeded careful consideration by the attending delegations.
