A yet unknown actor has attempted to undermine the proceedings in the ICC through the hacking of the climate control system. The AC was turned on at full blast, causing the temperatures in the courtroom to plummet to near-Arctic temperatures. The present delegates as well as the judges felt their health put in danger and immediately requested a supply of warm tea to allow proceedings to continue.
It is unclear who could be behind this assault on fair trial, but there are some suspects. Turkey has a strong interest in safeguarding Azerbaijan’s interest and could see the value of disrupting proceedings. On the other hand, Russia could be trying to discredit the ICC by incapacitating judges in order to delay proceedings, which would give already existing critics more arguments to declare the ICC useless. Finally, it could be North Korea as they are known to hack international institutions, possibly for pure entertainment.
