In continuing deliberations, The Republic of Korea and the Netherlands both emphasized that despite the significant progress that was made yesterday, there are overbearing concerns that cannot remain unrecognized. Most notably, money-laundering and other forms of corruption that have been recognized by the UN as being rampant in Yemen’s government.
The conversation was diverted to the protection of internally displaced peoples (IDP) where technology sharing and collaboration was agreed as the pathway to ensuring humanitarian aid is accessible via mobile health clinics and other means. The delegate of Kuwait, addressing the need for utilizing technology and IDP databases further addresses the issue of funding, saying “we need more involvement by the countries who have the money to give. There are some countries who choose to stay neutral and we can’t afford to stay neutral.”
