In an intense and anger driven speech, the AfD was eager to make space in committee discussions to express frustration over migrants entering Europe, claiming that they influence European elections and culture.
The European Parliament’s discussion is supposed to be on the issue of media, disinformation, and election interference. However, the AfD’s delegate is more preoccupied with the last of the three topics, and more than eager to point the finger to migrants as the source of the problem. The same delegate also had reportedly requested the presence of the press for reporters to capture the moment.
After some back and forth between the delegates and the chairs, the far-right party representative was finally able to call for a consultation of the whole, allowing them to speak openly for a longer duration.
In the speech, the delegate accused migrants of manipulating Native Europeans by protesting and speaking out, causing them to vote for parties that are against ‘European culture’.
“There is a replacement going on.” The delegate started. “We the native Europeans are being replaced. Our culture is being removed…We must not have all these immigrants into our land. We must not have all these immigrants vote, speak out, talk to others as they might change and manipulate the native European peoples.”
This speech is in light of a surge of refugees and migrants, mainly from countries where Islam is the main religion, entering Europe, Germany being a top destination.
For the AfD, it is clear that the influx of muslim migrants, along with Americans and Russians, are a threat to the integrity of elections in Europe.
The social democrats were quick to refute the arguments stating that parties like the AfD are “the reason things in Europe do not work.”
In a interview with the press after the session, the AfD delegate stated how the EU “must limit foreign interference by two ways, by direct immigrant power because they get the right to vote for parties that want to remove German culture… on top of that, their soft power because they can protest and manipulate the native population into voting for things against their own culture.” The delegate went on to call them “monster manipulators.”
Whether the AfD is to be successful in their crusade against migrants, will be determined in the following day.
