Christmas, the time of joy, happiness, presents, and most importantly, the period to spend time with your family and loved ones. With the year nearing an end, some good news and, unfortunately, bad news continue to circulate. Here is some news from this week.
US launches strikes ISIS Terrorist in Northwest Nigeria
Christian persecution has been an ongoing discussion across several social media platforms. People have expressed their sadness and sympathy regarding the situation in Nigeria. Among them is President Donald Trump, who made a public announcement that serious actions need to be taken. Living up to his words, the US military struck ISIS Terrorists, the persons who he accused of persecuting Christians in Nigeria. This strike was not unilaterally carried out but was a coordinated affair between the United States and the Nigerian government. Reports stated that Nigerian President Bola Tinubu gave his “go ahead,” prior to the strike. The attack occurred on December 25th and garnered mixed reactions from Nigerians.
Possibly the coldest Christmas Day in the Netherlands in 15 years
On the 25th December, the Netherlands experienced its coldest Christmas day since 1994. Combined with some wind and the sunny weather, it was quite a beautiful Christmas day with the blue sky and chilly weather. The best time to stay cozy at home and enjoy some games and fantastic food with your family and loved ones.
Overlooked detail in Home Alone?
Home Alone, the classic Christmas film, is once again back on everyone's watchlists and played in cinemas around the world. Every year, different theories resurface about the film, and this year was no different. The film about a little boy left all alone at home and engaging in craziest shenanigans, ultimately protecting his home from burglars, has an overlooked detail that “makes no sense”...
In the first film, the McCallisters order 10 pizzas, which amounts to a total of 122.50 dollars plus tip. Fans noticed the price was astronomically high for the 90s. After considering specific factors such as the 11.80 dollars Kevin paid later in the film for his own pizza, fans calculated that the price per pizza amounted to “12.30 dollars.” This is quite expensive, and Kevin's mum also expresses her surprise at the cost. However, she quickly recovers and pays the price plus tip. Considering inflation and the film being 35 years old, fans concluded that the McCallisters most likely overpaid for the pizza. Others also stated that the family lived in a wealthy suburb and things were probably more expensive for them. This newly discovered detail brought a lot of excitement and conversation about the dearly loved film, and once again, it is a movie everyone looked forward to watching during Christmas.
Lastly, Christmas is a lovely time of the year. Students go home to their family, parents take a break from work, the snow, the lights, the presents, the traditions shared … It is truly a wonderful time of the year.
Wishing everyone a jolly time and more good news.
Till next time…
