The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Friday afternoon debated implementing free and fair elections in Venezuela and the possibility of assistance from the United Nations (UN). The Brazilian delegate disrupted the discussion to focus on the crisis in Guyana, to what they billed “the elephant in the room.” Brazil takes a strong stand in the border dispute between its direct neighbors and condemns Venezuela’s actions in the Essequibo region.
