Nuria van Golde
Nuria is a third-year Global Studies student at Maastricht University and a writer for the Maastricht Diplomat’s Local Coverage Team. Raised in Maastricht, she combines a strong academic interest in international relations, political communication, and social issues with a curiosity for how global dynamics play out at the local level. She offers a particularly interesting perspective on Maastricht, as she speaks not only Dutch but also the local dialect, Mestreechs. Alongside her studies, Nuria is part of the MarBLe Excellence Programme, where she conducts research on policy agendas and political communication in the European Parliament. She has also gained field research experience in Indonesia, focusing on gender justice in rural communities, which further shaped her interest in the intersection of policy, society, and lived experience. Beyond academia, Nuria is actively involved in student life, contributing to the University Orchestra Maastricht both as a flautist and as part of the PR committee. When she is not writing or studying, she enjoys reading, and spending time outdoors with her dog in Maastricht.
