As the last day of debates on energy prices and security of supply began in the Council of the European Union on Sunday morning, delegates first celebrated the birthday of the delegation of Estonia. The atmosphere was thus relaxed in the Council as all the delegates cheered for their colleague.
With the celebrations over, the atmosphere promised to be less relaxed as the formal start of discussions started and strong disagreements could already be clearly observed.
During a second reading, the President of the European Union recalled the amendments made yesterday by the European Parliament on the draft proposal. The delegates have now started to discuss those amendments in order to reach a final version.
